Global Brewer Receives Recognition from Top Sustainability Industry
Organizations for Improved CR Leadership, Performance and Transparency
DENVER & MONTREAL--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 6, 2012--
Molson Coors Brewing Company (NYSE: TAP) announced today that it has
been selected for inclusion in the SAM’s Sustainability Yearbook 2012
and awarded two distinctions: 2012 SAM Sector Mover and 2012 SAM Bronze
Class. These recognitions come on the heels of two other notable
corporate responsibility awards given to Molson Coors in September of
2011 from the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) and the Dow Jones
Sustainability North America Index (DJSI North America).
"We’re proud to be recognized for our efforts in improving our corporate
responsibility performance, in part because we see it as an extension of
our overall business performance,” said Bart Alexander, chief
responsibility officer for Molson Coors. “As we strive to improve Our
Beer Print globally, we are also committed to delivering exceptional
results for our shareholders, our employees, our customers and the
communities where we live and work.”
The Sustainability Yearbook 2012 is the world’s most comprehensive
publication on corporate sustainability and the related challenges and
opportunities for companies. Each year, the world’s 2,500 largest
companies, as reflected in the Dow Jones Global Total Stock Market
Index, are invited to participate in SAM’s Corporate Sustainability
Assessment. Only the top-scoring 15 percent of the companies in each of
the 58 sectors assessed are eligible for inclusion in The Sustainability
Yearbook.
Molson Coors was named a 2012 SAM Sector Mover for being among the top
15 percent of SAM Sector Leaders in achieving the largest proportional
improvement in sustainability performance compared to the prior year.
The company was also given a 2012 SAM Bronze Class distinction for
achieving a score within a range of five to 10 percent of the SAM Sector
Leader. The 2012 edition of The Sustainability Yearbook was presented at
this year’s World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
In addition to the SAM distinctions, the CDP recently recognized Molson
Coors for its efforts to reduce emissions, alleviate the risks of
climate change and enforce transparency around climate change
management. Molson Coors was featured in both the CDP’s Carbon
Performance Leadership Index and the CDP’s Carbon Disclosure Leadership
Index. Lastly, the company was named to the Dow Jones Sustainability
Index North America (DJSI North America), marking the first year Molson
Coors has been named to the index. Of the 143 companies that achieved a
listing, Molson Coors was one of only six included in the Food and
Beverage category.
